As the co-creator of EF Englishtown, Bill has overseen and contributed to the phenomenal success of EF's language learning platform from its inception as a joint research project between EF and Apple Computer to its status today as the world's leading English training system. With a passion for product design, Bill has dedicated his life to changing the way people learn a language. A 17-year veteran of the EF group, Bill was the founding employee of EF's instructional technology division in 1993 (EF Multimedia) and of EF's e-learning division, Englishtown.com, in 1996. Bill served as President of EF Englishtown.com for 10 years, growing the system to become the leading online English training service for corporations and adult professionals. Now the system is used by over 15 million students. In 2006, Bill was also appointed as CEO of EF China, in charge of overseeing EF's operation and expansion in fast-growing market of China. In addition to serving on EF's executive committee and the board of directors of Englishtown.com, Bill has been an active board member and advisor to a number of start-up organizations including Digital Divide Data, Goodthings.com, GameFederation AB and others. Bill graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in computer science and then he pursued post-graduate studies at the Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden.
In his spare time, he owns a restaurant, Xibo, in Shanghai that specializes in Chinese food from the western province of Xinjiang where 25% of profits go to charities in west China. He also writes his own blog for Forbes China.
Dr. Enio Ohmaye is EF’s Chief Experience Officer(CXO), responsible for product development and innovation within EF. A technical visionary and co-founder of EF’s online learning system "Englishtown", Dr. Ohmaye is responsible for designing and driving the technical innovation behind EF Englishtown’s cutting-edge platform. In addition to being a leading scientist in educational technology, Dr. Ohmaye has extensive international experience in management, marketing, business development and software development. He has designed and developed pioneering educational software at Englishtown, UNext, Apple Computers, and the Institute for the Learning Sciences (ILS). Alongside these achievements, Dr. Ohmaye holds various patents in online-learning technologies, architectures and authoring tools. He previously held posts at UNext (where he was VP of New Business Development), Cognitive Arts (as VP of Technology), and Apple (Chief Scientist and Director). Dr. Ohmaye holds a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Sao Paulo, an M.S. in Computer Science from GeorgeWashington University, and a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence and Education from Yale and Northwestern University. Dr. Ohmaye himself is a scholar of languages, being fluent in Portuguese and English and conversant in Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese. In his free time, Dr. Ohmaye enjoys traveling, drumming, dancing, meditation, and riding his motorcycle.
As the president of EF Englishtown, Andrew oversees the school’s global operations and expansion, including marketing operations, strategy, and top-line growth including online marketing, user experience, and product management, branding, and business development. Andrew’s experience in building and marketing consumer brands for over 20 years began with a tool room apprenticeship in an engineering and manufacturing company. From there, he launched into a series of client and agency-side marketing and product roles, and has since done brand strategy and marketing for leading consumer companies such as Kodak, Pacific Bell, Earthlink, Bank of America, Levi's, Mondavi Wines, and Hiltons Hotel Corp. Before joining EF Englishtown in January 2012, Andrew served as the Chief Marketing Officer at Art.com, Inc. and Senior Vice President of the United States Operations and General Manager at Ancestry.com Inc., where he led marketing, content acquisition, business development, product management, and engineering for the U.S. region. Andrew’s work as the Senior Director of Marketing at Kodak Gallery generated over 70% in customer acquisition. At Ancestry.com, Andrew's role in managing both marketing and product development oversaw a 60% expansion in user base and 24% in revenue growth, culminating in its successful 2009 IPO. Born in Colombia, Andrew speaks fluent Spanish and English. He holds a Masters of International Business Administration from St. Mary's College of California, an MBA from Haas School of Business, and a B.A. in History from University of California at Berkeley. Currently, Andrew lives in London with his wife and two children and enjoys training for triathlons in his spare time.
