Business Language Testing Service (BULATS)

Englishtown is an authorised examination centre for the Business Language Testing Service (known as BULATS) by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, providinb students computer tests in any one of our centres.

BULATS is a fast way to assess your ability in the English language and is also recognised as a workplace English benchmark test in Hong Kong. BULATS is referenced by the European Language Framework. Its standard is one of the most globally recognised language benchmarks and is widely used by employers in assessing English proficiency for employees.

Based on research by the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR) in 2006, the majority of employers agree that BULATS is more effective in terms of English assessment for employees than the IELTS. BULATS covers tests in listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary, with scores varying from 0-100.

Students can take the test in any Englishtown centre. After completing the assessment, they will receive the results as well as a certificate. BULATS is authorised by the Hong Kong Continuing Education Fund. Qualified students can receive a refund of the course fees from the government of up to 80% to a maximum of HK$10,000.
